As Nature Reflects
The Photo Challenge
This is Week Eight of the 52 Snapshots of Life photo challenge, and it’s theme is Mirror.
On the first day of my recent road trip, I was driving past Lake Crescent. It was fogged over, the only water visible was the few feet next to its banks. Suddenly, the fog lifted and this is what I saw! Nature’s mirror image. It was so quiet. It was a moment of reverence at the start of my dog trek and I am thankful.
A Lesson in Looking
The instructor of an online photography 101 class I was taking recently claimed a photographer looks at the world a little differently. She sees more aspects. But it takes time to develop a photographer’s eye.
So on my trip I practiced looking for interesting contrasts, lighting, repetitive linear objects, etc.
I am glad I did the ‘look’ exercise. I saw this mirrored reflection of Lake Crescent, rainbows in the woods, criss-crossing crop lines, moving swirls of flying birds, breaking shadows, and so much more.
